SEA KAYAKING & SURFING
The coastline to both sides of Rosenvold Strand Camping is great for day trips in kayaks. In few places can you find such a beautiful coastline, with plenty of opportunities to find your own little Robinson Crusoe beach. To the west of the fjord, the moraine landscape with cliffs up to 20 meters high creates a fantastic backdrop for coastal walks. Depending on the length of the trip, you will both pass the ruins of Fakkargrav Badehotel, the beautiful Vejle fjord hotel and perhaps round Træskohage lighthouse.
To the east, you quickly pass Rosenvold castle, after which the forest almost spills out into the Kattegat. It creates a sculptural coastline with crooked trunks reaching out into the sea. After 5 km you come to Stenhøj beach, where there are several well-located shelters with a view towards Funen. A short walk from the coast is Staksevold røverborg, an obvious place to enjoy a packed lunch in the peace of the forest. On sunny days, the clay content of the coast gives the water an almost turquoise colour, giving associations to more southern climes.
Kite & Windsurfing:
Rosenvold Strand camping is located at the water’s edge at the mouth of the Vejle fjord. Both the beach directly in front of the square and the area east of Rosenvold harbor are very suitable for rigging equipment. The entire bay immediately in front of the site is suitable for both kite and windsurfing.
The wind is best from North-West to South-East. When the wind picks up, there are often small and medium-sized waves on the fjord, which provide good bump & jump conditions for experienced surfers. Freeriders and racers often find a little more wind here in westerly directions, as the wind is compressed out through the fjord. When the wind is absent, the entire bay is perfect for SUP and the coast on both sides is suitable for shorter or longer trips.
